About The Position

The Lead Learning Support Teacher is responsible for providing instructional leadership and support to teachers and students. This role involves providing specialized educational support in reading, writing, math, and all other subjects to students in elementary and middle school. The position also requires supervising and scheduling support teachers, assisting in school goal establishment, and promoting a positive learning environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Primary Education, Special Education, or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a primary classroom setting.
  • Demonstrate ability to plan, organize, and modify an educational activity set by the classroom teacher.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with a Catholic school population.
  • The ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations.
  • Exhibit a high degree of integrity, loyalty and dependability and have a strong work ethic.
  • Must be a self starter and able to work independently with strong organizational skills.
  • Valid driver's license to travel between the two school locations.
  • Clear records of Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check (PATCH), Pennsylvania Child Abuse History, and Federal Bureau of Investigation Criminal Background Fingerprint Check as required under Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Act 153 of 2014 (No less than 1 year old).
  • Attendance at the online Protecting God's Children class and Mandated Reporter Training.

Responsibilities

  • Supervising and scheduling of the ES and MS support teachers.
  • Assisting in the establishment of goals and objectives for the school.
  • Promoting a positive, caring climate for learning.
  • Implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and 504 plans for students and monitoring their progress.
  • Participating in IEP meetings and other required meetings.
  • Offering support and strategies to enhance instruction and promote growth throughout the curriculum.
  • Collaborating with teachers of all grade levels to promote the learning and implementation of instruction.
  • Teaching students per their individualized reading plans to small groups or individually using research-based strategies and resources.
  • Motivating students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge to provide an effective reading, writing, and mathematical foundation in accordance with their abilities.
  • Meeting regularly with classroom teachers to plan education instructions that relate to the student's individual needs or as requested by the classroom teacher.
  • Evaluating student performances during each session and providing feedback.
  • Maintaining a fair, accurate, and timely assessment of policies and procedures.
  • Communicating with students, parents, and teachers on a regular basis about schedules, assessments, and individual student needs.
  • Meeting with parents during parent-teacher conferences throughout the school year.
  • Scheduling and leading SST (Student Support Team) meetings.
  • Attending all required in-service training meetings and workshops.
  • Attending and participating in faculty meetings.
  • Actively being involved in the school community.
  • Attending school events, activities, fundraisers, etc.
  • Performing any other duties as assigned by the Principal.
