This role involves collecting, labeling, logging, and processing blood and other specimens in a pathology laboratory. The Lead Laboratory Processor is responsible for checking the quality of samples, assembling supplies and equipment, and monitoring laboratory incubator/refrigerator temperatures. This position also prepares specimens for referral to outside laboratories and acts as the Processing Supervisor in their absence. Additional duties include ordering tests in the LIS system, registering drop-off specimens, ensuring correct specimen collection and labeling, and adhering to CAP, UMPA, and GLP guidelines. The role also involves determining specimen acceptability, and spinning, separating, storing, and distributing specimens.
