Stat Lab - Lead Lab Tech (Day)
About The Position
The Lead Laboratory Technician oversees the day-to-day activities in an animal diagnostic reference laboratory performing laboratory analyses and tests. Supervises staff, assigns work and evaluates results. Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Laboratory skills and experience
- General science background
- Attention to detail and ability to work independently
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- The ability to communicate information so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations
- Personal computer skills, strong typing ability, and knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Nice To Haves
- 2- or 4-year degree in science related field preferred
- minimum of 1-year clinical laboratory experience
- Prior leadership experience preferred
Responsibilities
- Supervise day-to-day activities in the laboratory performing laboratory analyses and tests
- Supervise staff, assign work and monitor activities
- Resolve escalated issues
- Administer employment actions, provide coaching and guidance to staff and promote staff training and development
- Provides input to department policies and procedures
- Leads work activities of the lab planning and organizing work, providing adequate staffing and resources and maintaining work on schedule so that ongoing customer satisfaction is maintained
- Communicate with other related departments and laboratory supervisors and managers to coordinate work and resolve issues as needed.
- Contribute to the maintenance of department diagnostic equipment and other technical resources
- Coordinate with internal personnel, vendors and others as needed to resolve issues and maintain ongoing functionality
- Train on all according to all Standard Operating Procedures
- Oversee the entering and releasing of results
- Oversee the building and packing of send outs to the main lab.
- Train on workflow and production goals
- Order and maintain an appropriate level of supplies
- Review of Quality Control Protocols
- Provide feedback regarding staff performance to leadership
- Perform other duties as assigned
