About The Position

Obtains quality blood samples using a variety of phlebotomy methods with standard safety equipment from all age groups, adhering strictly to regulatory requirements and collection procedures. Provides rapid response to medical emergencies and performs various point-of-care testing (POC). Responsible for accurate patient identification, quality specimen labeling, handling, transportation, and accurate specimen testing using POC equipment. Must be proficient with various computer programs/systems and maintain patient confidentiality. Utilizes excellent customer relations and communication skills in performing phlebotomy, answering phones, and interacting with patients, nurses, providers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure high customer satisfaction. Demonstrates a positive and professional demeanor. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Assists with providing operations support to teams by mobilizing staff across various competency-based areas, ensuring coverage of critical patient care areas. Must possess skills in working in a fast-paced environment, coping, understanding and following written and verbal instructions, organization and prioritization, attention to detail, problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making. Participates as a member of the interview team and provides training feedback to education and leadership teams. Assists with completing annual and random skill competencies. Must be able to push a cart and walk distances. Individuals hired for this position are required to complete 2 years in this role before becoming eligible to transfer to other positions within Mayo Clinic. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position, and it does not participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program.
