Lead Java Full-Stack Engineer

Cynet Systems•Issaquah, WA

About The Position

The Lead Java Full-Stack Engineer designs and develops modern, responsive, high-performance frontend interfaces with Angular 19 and builds lightweight, high-throughput Java microservices with Micronaut. The role focuses on secure, well-tested services and clean RESTful APIs with automated, self-documenting OpenAPI/Swagger documentation, as well as enterprise authentication and authorization using OAuth2 and OIDC. The engineer designs and optimizes relational database models in AlloyDB for PostgreSQL, writes type-safe SQL with JDBI 3, manages schema migrations with Flyway, and tunes indexing and throughput for scale. The role also deploys, manages, and scales applications on GCP using GKE, configuring Kubernetes orchestration, load balancing, and autoscaling to support availability and resource utilization. Responsibilities include implementing CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, container security, and cloud monitoring and logging.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in Java.
  • 8+ years of experience in Angular.
  • 4+ years of experience in GCP.
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience with modern Angular, TypeScript, RxJS, and modern web UI libraries; Angular 17+ or Angular 19 experience is preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in Java backend engineering, specifically with microservices frameworks such as Micronaut, along with OAuth2/OIDC security standards.
  • Deep experience with PostgreSQL or GCP AlloyDB, including data modeling, type-safe SQL with JDBI 3, version-controlled migrations using Flyway, and performance tuning.
  • Strong expertise with GCP, including hands-on proficiency with GKE, Docker, ingress/load balancing, and autoscaling.
  • Deep understanding of microservices architecture, event-driven design, and distributed-system trade-offs.
  • Experience with RESTful APIs, JSON, automated API documentation using OpenAPI/Swagger specifications, and gRPC.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Cloud Build, and Infrastructure as Code such as Terraform.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, architectural ownership, and a passion for building scalable systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with GCP native services such as Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage, Secret Manager, and Cloud Monitoring.
  • Knowledge of reactive Java frameworks and Ahead-Of-Time (AOT) compilation/GraalVM native images.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop modern, responsive, high-performance frontend interfaces using Angular 19.
  • Implement state management, reactive programming patterns, and API integrations.
  • Architect, build, and maintain lightweight, high-throughput microservices using Java and Micronaut.
  • Maintain code quality, security, unit and integration test coverage, and clean RESTful API design with automated OpenAPI/Swagger documentation.
  • Implement authentication and authorization using OAuth2 and OIDC across microservices.
  • Design, optimize, and manage enterprise relational database models using AlloyDB for PostgreSQL.
  • Write efficient SQL using JDBI 3, manage version-controlled schema migrations with Flyway, and optimize indexing and throughput.
  • Deploy, manage, and scale applications on GCP using GKE.
  • Configure Kubernetes orchestration, load balancing, and autoscaling policies to support availability and resource utilization.
  • Implement CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, container security, and cloud monitoring and logging.
