About The Position

The Lead Janitor is responsible for conducting quality checks on janitorial tasks, assisting staff to meet deadlines, and ensuring daily checklists are completed and signed. This role involves notifying management of any custodial service needs or equipment issues, monitoring and replenishing supply closets, and promptly responding to work orders. The Lead Janitor must strictly adhere to and ensure staff follow health and safety regulations and policies. This position also includes training new staff on company standards, job descriptions, and checklists. Daily duties involve performing periodic cleaning tasks such as cleaning floors, shampooing rugs, washing walls and glass, and removing rubbish. This includes mixing cleaning solutions according to product specifications and dispensing chemicals with correct labels. The Lead Janitor will clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming, and will gather and empty trash. They will service, supply, and clean restrooms, and clean and polish furniture, drinking fountains, windows, glass partitions, and mirrors. Dusting of office furniture, walls, machines, and equipment is also a responsibility. The role may involve spot cleaning or shampooing carpets, and stripping, sealing, finishing, and polishing floors. Additionally, the Lead Janitor may drive company vans to various work sites and move equipment and supplies manually or with a hand truck. They are responsible for washing, drying, and folding rags and towels, ensuring all team members complete their tasks, and representing the Company with professionalism and a commitment to quality. All other duties as assigned by the manager will also be performed. Specific training procedures for mats, including sweeping, vacuuming, cleaning, and disinfecting with a Neatural Quaternary Amine #M23H or equivalent, are detailed for tactical training rooms, land border training, airport training, and basement training areas, requiring disinfection at least twice daily.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience as a supervisor
  • 2-3 years of related janitorial experience or similar
  • Ability to work with limited supervision

  • Hold a valid driver’s license
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English

Responsibilities

  • Conduct quality checks to ensure janitor staff tasks are completed.
  • Assist janitor staff in accomplishing tasks within a deadline.
  • Review checklists daily to ensure areas were cleaned and the building was completed.
  • Sign and date checklists.
  • Notify the manager of any additions needed in custodial services or any damages/defects/issues/repairs with floor or other equipment.
  • Check supply closet levels and replace supplies as needed.
  • Respond and attend to work orders promptly.
  • Strictly adhere to health and safety regulations and policies, and ensure janitor staff follow them.
  • Train new staff on standards, job descriptions, and checklists.
  • Perform periodic cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, shampooing rugs, washing walls and glass, and removing rubbish.
  • Mix water and detergents in containers according to product specifications.
  • Dispense chemicals in bottles with correct labels.
  • Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming.
  • Gather and empty trash, including trash cans near exterior main entrances.
  • Service, supply, and clean restrooms.
  • Clean and polish furniture, drinking fountains, windows, glass partitions, and mirrors using appropriate cleaning products and sponges.
  • Dust office furniture, walls, machines, and equipment.
  • Spot clean or shampoo carpets; strip, seal, finish, and polish floors.
  • Drive vehicles (vans) for travel to various work sites.
  • Move equipment and supplies either manually or by using a hand truck.
  • Wash, dry, and fold rags and towels.
  • Ensure all team members complete their tasks.
  • Represent the Company at all times with professionalism and a commitment to quality.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by the manager.
  • Sweep, vacuum, and clean mats wall to wall/corner to corner before disinfecting.
  • Disinfect mats at a minimum of 2 times per day using a Neatural Quaternary Amine #M23H or equivalent.
