About The Position

The Lead Inspector is responsible for verifying vehicle information against work order details, identifying any damage, missing parts, or mechanical issues through thorough interior and exterior inspections. This role involves documenting findings, preparing necessary paperwork, and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of company policies, procedures, and automotive advancements. The position requires a strong commitment to safety and may involve working overtime as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED and 7 years’ experience. OR any level degree/certification beyond a HS diploma/GED in a related discipline and 5 years’ experience. OR 9 years’ experience in a related field
  • Safe driver’s needed; valid driver’s license required.
  • Basic computer software skills required.
  • Ability to multitask required.
  • Must be detail oriented.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, reach, talk and hear.
  • Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch and climb.
  • Vision abilities required include close, distance and color vision, depth perception.
  • Must clear a pre-employment drug test.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer without current or future sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • ASE certification or background in automotive repair, and cost estimating.
  • Knowledge ICAR Certifications preferred.
  • General knowledge of automotive body and mechanical work preferred.
  • Previous body shop experience, mechanical experience, estimating experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Verify vehicle information based on work order information – identify damage, missing parts, and mechanical problems by inspecting all customer vehicles at time of receipt (i.e., interior, exterior, odometer reading, trunk area, engine compartment), noting any damage or repair to frame/paint, engine noise, AC/heater operation, radio, tire condition, etc.
  • Prepare and complete all necessary documentation.
  • Set up system for day-end; perform day-end procedures.
  • Maintain knowledge to ensure all policies and procedures are followed.
  • Write electronic condition reports (ECR).
  • Conduct OVE courtesy walk around inspections.
  • Maintain knowledge of system capabilities, knowledge of needed/job-relevant software packages, and web-based applications.
  • Maintain a working knowledge on improvements and changes concerning body mechanical, frame labor, inspection techniques, etc.
  • Visibly demonstrate safety commitment by following all safety and health procedures and modeling the behaviors related to such.
  • Actively participate in support of all safety activities aligned with Safety Excellence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
  • May be required to work overtime as business needs dictate.
