About The Position

Automation has become an increasingly important capability across technology operations, but adoption has evolved organically across teams, resulting in varying approaches, standards, and levels of maturity. We are looking for an experienced automation leader who is passionate about modern infrastructure operations and solving complex problems through automation. This role will help shape the future of automation by defining standards, driving adoption, building reusable solutions, and modernizing operational processes across technology teams. While the role includes leadership of a small team, the successful candidate will be expected to remain close to the technology, contributing technical direction, architecture, standards, and hands-on guidance to ensure solutions are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with business objectives. Requirements

  • Deep expertise with Ansible Automation Platform (AAP) and configuration management practices.
  • Strong development experience using Python to build automation frameworks, integrations, orchestration workflows, and self-service capabilities.
  • Strong scripting and automation experience using PowerShell across Windows infrastructure environments.
  • Experience automating large-scale Windows and Linux environments.
  • Experience with API-driven automation and systems integration.
  • Experience with Git-based development practices and CI/CD pipelines.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code practices.
  • Experience integrating automation with ServiceNow and operational tooling.
  • Experience with Azure and/or AWS cloud platforms.
  • Experience with compliance automation, vulnerability remediation, and configuration drift management.
  • Experience operating within a large enterprise or regulated environment.

Responsibilities

  • Drive Automation Strategy and Adoption: Lead adoption of a common automation framework across Windows and Linux platforms. Define automation standards, best practices, and reusable patterns that can be leveraged across technology teams. Champion automation-first thinking and help teams modernize manual operational processes. Establish measures and reporting to demonstrate automation adoption, reliability, and business value.
  • Provide Technical Leadership: Act as a subject matter expert for automation engineering and infrastructure automation practices. Design and review automation solutions, architectures, and implementation approaches. Guide infrastructure teams on automation design patterns, coding standards, and operational readiness. Contribute to complex automation initiatives where hands-on technical leadership is required.
  • Build Scalable Automation Solutions: Develop and enhance automation capabilities that improve efficiency, consistency, reliability, and compliance. Drive automation of infrastructure and platform lifecycle activities, including: Configuration management, Configuration drift remediation, Orchestration, Compliance validation, Software deployment, Asset lifecycle management.
  • Enable Self-Service Automation: Define and prioritize the roadmap for self-service automation capabilities. Partner with technical teams to identify new opportunities for automation and process improvement. Improve user adoption through intuitive and reliable automation services.
  • Lead a Small Team of Automation Engineers: Provide coaching, mentorship, and technical leadership to a small team. Foster collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning. Support delivery of strategic automation initiatives while maintaining a hands-on connection to key technical solutions.
