About The Position

The Lead Infrastructure Architect plays a key role in shaping and maintaining FSRA’s hybrid cloud environment. This role provides technical leadership and oversight to ensure the organization’s technology platforms are secure, stable, and built to scale with FSRA’s modernization goals. The position focuses on developing and maintaining a reliable and well-governed infrastructure foundation that supports FSRA’s day-to-day operations and long-term digital transformation.

Requirements

  • Postsecondary degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in infrastructure engineering, including at least 5 years in a senior or lead technical role with a strong focus on design, implementation, and maintenance within an enterprise or hybrid cloud environment.
  • Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure Administrator Associate, Azure DevOps Engineer Expert, Terraform Associate certifications.
  • Microsoft 365 Enterprise Administrator Expert, an asset.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure (IaaS, PaaS, networking, identity, automation, monitoring, and cost optimization).
  • Strong expertise across core infrastructure domains: networking, compute, storage, virtualization, identity, and security.
  • Deep understanding of hybrid cloud architectures, high availability, scalability, and resilience patterns.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically about infrastructure needs and align them with organizational goals.
  • Deep knowledge of enterprise infrastructure, including cloud computing (Azure/AWS), networking, and data center operations.
  • Strong understanding of Active Directory, Azure AD, DNS, firewalls, and virtual networking.
  • Experience supporting and integrating Dynamics 365, Power Platform, and Office 365 within enterprise environments.
  • Knowledge of backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning for an enterprise hybrid environment.
  • Working knowledge of security best practices, audit and compliance frameworks, and zero-trust principles.
  • Ability to lead teams, provide expert advice, and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical executive stakeholders.
  • Strong skills in project planning, control, and budget management, and architectural governance skills.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills, with a collaborative, problem-solving approach.

Responsibilities

  • Establishes and maintains cloud architecture governance, including resource standards, tagging conventions, cost controls, and security guardrails.
  • Leads long-term infrastructure roadmap strategic planning in partnership with enterprise architecture and business leadership.
  • Builds scalable, secure, and cost-optimized environments that support enterprise platforms such as Dynamics 365, Power Platform, and Office 365.
  • Leads end-to-end capacity forecasting and scaling strategies.
  • Oversees enterprise performance engineering, capacity planning, and automated scaling strategies to ensure high availability and resilience.
  • Establishes proactive observability and alerting using Azure Monitor, Application Insights, or similar tools.
  • Leads enterprise automation initiatives using PowerShell, Azure Automation, and IaC (Terraform/Bicep) to eliminate manual tasks and increase deployment consistency.
  • Strengthens FSRA’s security posture through effective identity management, access control, encryption, and data protection.
  • Maintains enterprise disaster recovery, backup, and failover plans to support business continuity in a hybrid environment.
  • Establishes reliability engineering practices, such as SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, and post-incident reviews.
  • Leads architecture reviews and technical governance boards, ensuring alignment with engineering standards.
  • Establishes and oversees lifecycle management for infrastructure platforms (patching strategy, end-of-life planning, modernization).
  • Operates as the technical lead for infrastructure delivery, mentoring engineers and guiding solution design and implementation.
  • Leads major incident response, conducting root cause analysis, and driving long-term corrective actions across teams.
  • Defines and maintains infrastructure standards, patterns, and documentation to guide consistent, high-quality delivery.
  • Aligns infrastructure strategies and operations with compliance and audit standards, ensuring policies are followed and controls are enforced.
  • Owns key components of the infrastructure modernization roadmap and leads feasibility evaluations, PoCs, and adoption strategies.
  • Works closely with architecture, development, and data teams to plan environments, coordinate releases, and maintain readiness.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams, stakeholders (including senior management and external vendors), to define requirements, provide expert advice, and ensure effective project delivery and issue resolution.
  • Interacts with vendors and managed service providers ensuring SLAs are met and evaluates vendor capabilities against strategic objectives.
