About The Position

ZipStaff is seeking a seasoned Lead IBM Maximo Technical Consultant to lead complex enterprise asset management modernization, migration, and infrastructure initiatives for a transportation organization. This hands-on technical leadership role owns work from architecture through deployment and post-go-live support, including upgrades across IBM Maximo 7.5 and 7.6 toward IBM Maximo Application Suite (MAS) 9. The role bridges application and infrastructure domains, covering integrations through the Maximo Integration Framework, transitions from VMware to Microsoft Hyper-V, and Oracle database migration activities. The consultant partners with development, cybersecurity, database, infrastructure, networking, QA, project leadership, and vendor teams to resolve complex issues, manage risks, and deliver reliable cutovers. The position is on-site in Washington, DC.

Requirements

Significant hands-on technical consulting experience with IBM Maximo 7.5 and 7.6 and practical experience architecting, configuring, and supporting MAS 9.
Expertise with the Maximo Integration Framework, message queuing systems, web services, REST APIs, and external enterprise system connectivity.
Experience migrating complex enterprise applications from VMware to Hyper-V and supporting Oracle database migrations or upgrades.
Background supporting WebSphere Application Server, IBM HTTP Server, Java-based enterprise architectures, Linux and Windows operating systems, and network and certificate configurations.
Working knowledge of Red Hat OpenShift, Kubernetes, and cloud-hosted application deployments relevant to MAS 9 architectures.
Demonstrated success as a technical lead on large-scale enterprise rollouts, working autonomously and delivering structured technical solutions in ambiguous environments.
Strong interpersonal and stakeholder-facing communication skills, including experience producing architecture diagrams, cutover runbooks, and technical risk assessments.
Ability to work on-site in Washington, DC.

Nice To Haves

Prior experience leading Maximo upgrades or migrations in transportation, rail, or highly regulated operational environments.
Hands-on experience with containerized MAS 9 deployments on Red Hat OpenShift.
Strong track record of multi-tier troubleshooting across Maximo, WebSphere, Oracle, and infrastructure layers.
Experience coordinating cutovers and post-go-live support for mission-critical enterprise asset management systems.

Responsibilities

Provide technical direction and oversight across concurrent Maximo upgrade, re-platforming, and migration projects, from initial architecture through deployment and post-go-live support.
Lead upgrades from legacy Maximo 7.5 and 7.6 environments toward MAS 9 architectures, including containerized deployments on Red Hat OpenShift.
Direct platform migrations from VMware to Microsoft Hyper-V and oversee Oracle database upgrade or migration activities.
Design, configure, and maintain enterprise integrations through the Maximo Integration Framework, including enterprise services, publish and invocation channels, external endpoints, message queues, and cron tasks.
Perform root-cause analysis across Maximo application code, WebSphere Application Server, IBM HTTP Server, Oracle databases, SSL/TLS certificates, networking, and middleware.
Translate business requirements into technical designs, deployment playbooks, rollback procedures, and performance-tuning guidelines while enforcing recoverability and security standards.
Coordinate with project leadership, infrastructure, networking, cybersecurity, QA, and external software vendors to address technical risks and scheduling blockers and ensure audit compliance.
Lead technical validation and cutover activities during maintenance windows, system upgrades, and major production releases.
