About The Position

Our team is growing at rcs construction, and we’re looking for a Lead Hand to join our site team, with a focus on projects located between the Annapolis Valley and Yarmouth. This role is well suited to an experienced construction professional who enjoys working in an active project environment, supporting site leadership, and contributing to the safe and efficient delivery of projects. The position focuses on site coordination, safety support, quality oversight, and administrative follow‑through across multiple project sites. If you’re comfortable travelling to project sites and thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced construction environment, this could be a great fit for you.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience in commercial construction with a General Contractor
  • Strong hands-on experience in carpentry and general site operations
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Solid understanding of site safety practices and regulatory requirements
  • Physical ability to perform demanding work in varying weather conditions (lifting up to 50 lbs, working at heights, etc.)
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
  • Willingness to travel to or be based between the Annapolis Valley and Yarmouth

Responsibilities

  • Support the Site Manager/Superintendent with day-to-day site coordination and oversight
  • Assist with monitoring quality of workmanship for own forces and subcontractors through inspections and documentation
  • Supporting site safety by maintaining documentation, monitoring compliance, and identifying hazards
  • Maintain site safety stations, supplies, and shared equipment; order or replenish items as required
  • Coordinate rental equipment and site resources, ensuring timely servicing and returns
  • Track material and equipment deliveries and maintain accurate site records using Procore and company systems
  • Prepare and complete project and client deficiency lists
  • Work closely with internal site teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients
  • Promoting teamwork, accountability, and effective communication with site staff and coworkers
  • Support site safety by preparing and maintaining safety documentation and promoting the Safety First & Always program.
