About The Position

The Lead Hand is responsible for daily dispatch of city and highway drivers, monitoring the health & safety program and compliance, and coordinating with the Operations Manager regarding driver vacation timing and schedules. This role involves daily driver supervision, coordinating and scheduling drivers and equipment to meet daily demands, and working with customers to ensure efficient operations and planning. The Lead Hand will also be responsible for training drivers, conducting monthly shop and equipment inspections, and reviewing/submitting pertinent paperwork. The position requires superior performance in driver activities, customer service, responsible behavior, and on-the-job performance.

Responsibilities

  • Daily Dispatch of city and highway drivers
  • Monitor the health & safety program and compliance
  • Coordination with the Operations Manager of all vacation timing and schedule for all drivers
  • Daily driver supervision, coordinating and scheduling drivers and equipment to meet daily demands in a timely fashion
  • Working with customers daily to ensure efficient operations and planning
  • Training of drivers and driver ride-a-longs
  • Conduct monthly shop and equipment inspections
  • Review and submit all pertinent paperwork daily
  • Other related duties as required or assigned
  • Safe and efficient operation of bulk transport vehicle.
  • Adhere to safety practices and procedures.
  • Adhere to Dairy Industry Act and Regulations.
  • Fuel vehicle, check oil, and report required repairs/maintenance.
  • Maintain logbooks/records on mileage, report all accidents and turn in paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Load truck with minimal to no product loss.
  • Unload truck with minimal to no product loss.
  • Cleaning exterior and inside the tanks of bulk milk trucks.
  • Maintain excellent attendance along with clean work habits.
  • Climb ladders to the top of the bulk tanks to check tank levels and for cleanliness.
  • Perform other duties as required.
