About The Position

We are hiring a Lead Hand for our Shipping & Receiving department to join our growing team! Reporting to the Warehouse Manager, this role will be responsible for leading and executing the daily activities of a busy shipping team. This includes managing all transactions and movement within the warehouse and outbound material. The position is an excellent opportunity for someone who can find better, smarter and more efficient ways to get things done. Requirements

  • 3-5 years of lead hand experience in a fast-paced material handling/ shipping/ receiving/ logistics environment.
  • Experience and interest in training and leading people.
  • Proven ability to communicate clearly, respectfully, and professionally with coworkers and supervisors.
  • Demonstrated history of dependable attendance and punctuality, with the ability to consistently meet scheduled work commitments.
  • Knowledge of OHSA safety regulations; safety champion.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite, particularly Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs and stand for extended periods of time.
  • You are legally able to work in USA.
  • You are an excellent communicator and have awesome interpersonal skills.
  • You have the ability to motivate & inspire your team - leading by example!
  • You are calm, cool & collected when under pressure and have strong problem-solving skills.
  • You know how to keep yourself organized so that you can prioritize your workload effectively.
  • You like to stay busy, have variety in your work and handle multiple requests throughout the day.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in manufacturing/production/ distribution environment would be an asset.
  • Forklift Certified strongly preferred.
  • Experience with continuous improvement (Lean/Kaizen) manufacturing concepts is a strong asset.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the daily operations of the warehouse and small team with shipping, general material handling, planning and executing workload based on shipping, and requirements of inventory management.
  • Ensure Health and Safety standards are adhered to while promoting a positive Safety culture.
  • Lead a culture of on-going process improvement using KAIZEN and LEAN methodology.
  • Ensure all finished goods are shipped in a timely, cost-effective manner
  • Actively manage employees to achieve high levels of quality, productivity, and efficiency
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with team members, leadership, and cross-functional departments to ensure accurate information sharing and operational continuity.
  • Ensure all warehouse areas are kept clean, organized and free of hazards before, during and after each shift (5S).
  • Handle employee concerns and issues, including filling out incident reports or other relevant documentation and submitting to the Operations Manager.
  • Foster a respectful and collaborative work environment by addressing conflicts constructively and promoting open communication among employees
  • Execute planning requirements on a daily and weekly basis in order to maintain uninterrupted workflow.
  • Assist with the onboarding training of new employees.
