About The Position

Cherry Glass & Aluminum (CGA) is a multi-generational local business established in 1968 as a branch of Capitol Glass and then purchased and rebranded in 1978. CGA is currently looking for a self-motivated and reliable individual who understands glass and enjoys working hard to join our team. CGA is located in Idaho Falls, Idaho, and specializes in glass and aluminum solutions for commercial and residential applications. This position will be based out of Idaho Falls, Idaho. The Lead Glass Installer provides hands-on expertise in installing storefronts, doors, windows, and specialty glass systems while guiding team members by knowledge and example. This role is essential to delivering quality installations, ensuring safety, and building trust with our contractors and residential customers.

Requirements

  • Positive attitude, team player, and strong work ethic.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (for company insurance).
  • Familiarity with blueprints and accurate measuring techniques.
  • Ability to use measuring tools (tape, laser, etc.) and perform accurate calculations.
  • Knowledge of tools such as grinders, cutters, caulk guns, nailers, miter boxes, and utility knives.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to spot installation defects.
  • Comfortable climbing ladders, scaffolding, and working at heights.
  • Ability to move through tight spaces and remain on your feet throughout the shift.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of health and safety standards; consistent use of PPE.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior supervisory/foreman experience leading a glazing crew.
  • Advanced knowledge of commercial glazing systems.
  • OSHA training or certifications in lift/forklift operation.
  • Familiarity with both residential and commercial installation environments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and guide installation crew members with knowledge, training, and example.
  • Install storefront systems, commercial windows/doors, and residential windows.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and building plans to meet project specifications.
  • Cut, fit, and align glass precisely within frames.
  • Assemble and install metal, wood, and aluminum components used to hold glass.
  • Apply putty, sealant, or weatherproofing materials to windows and frames.
  • Inspect completed work to ensure quality and defect-free results.
  • Safely lift, handle, and maneuver large panes of glass (50+ lbs).
  • Assist in loading/unloading trucks and organizing daily job materials.
  • Operate lifts and equipment: forklifts, scissor lifts, manual/power suction cups.
  • Train and mentor team members in proper installation and safety techniques.
  • Support cross-training across other job functions as needed.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and PPE in good working order.
  • Collaborate with project managers to keep timelines on track.
  • Troubleshoot installation challenges or measurement discrepancies.
  • Work overtime when necessary to meet deadlines and complete projects.
  • Communicate with contractors and customers regarding installation progress.
