About The Position

Ulteig has an outstanding opportunity for a Lead GIS Analyst. This integral role is a technical specialist, staff advisor, leader, and consultant for various types of projects using geospatial technology. The Lead GIS Analyst is fully competent and experienced in the application of all conventional aspects and principles of GIS. The Lead will coordinate the implementation and maintenance of GIS solutions to enhance internal workflows, data management, and access to information. You will perform GIS tasks which include creating and managing geospatial data, including shapefiles, file geodatabase, and hosted web services. Provides recommendations on assigned projects. Coordinates technical and administrative GIS activities, project assignments, and information with technical team leads, engineers, surveyors, planners, and other technical staff as necessary.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Geography, Environmental, Computer Science, GIS, Engineering, Urban Planning, or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience using GIS required.
  • Proficient knowledge of current GIS technology and software applications.
  • Proficient knowledge of the Esri suite of products, especially ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Online, Survey123, and Collector for ArcGIS.
  • Proficient knowledge of geodatabases, editing, geoprocessing tools, map projections, and cartography principles.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Software Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access), current GIS technology and software applications, and AutoCAD preferred.
  • Knowledge of Python or arcade scripting, maintenance, and documentation.
  • Effective leadership and mentoring skills.
  • Must possess a well-rounded knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Demonstrates excellent verbal/written communications, time management, interpersonal, organizational, and graphical communication skills.
  • Demonstrates the ability to be organized and work on multiple projects and meet deadlines by setting priorities.
  • Must have legal authorization to work permanently in the US.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct data gathering, editing, conversion, and analysis of GIS data.
  • Apply cartographic standard principles to prepare maps and exhibits using GIS data sets.
  • Prepare data documentation for metadata for GIS projects.
  • Monitor quality control within the area of responsibility before submitting to the project manager for review.
  • Collaborate with technical leads, engineers, planners, surveyors, and other technical staff as necessary.
  • Identify, educate, and generate awareness for GIS solutions.
  • Review all work for completeness and accuracy before final submission.
  • Provide an accurate accounting of time spent on projects with descriptions for each time entry daily.
  • Provide GIS analysis and decision support to the appropriate department.
  • Review projects for compliance with applicable industry design and safety codes, client or company design and quality standards.
  • Provide outstanding client service.
  • Assist with technical team leads and client solutions on additional business opportunities.
  • Coordinate, prepare and respond to RFP’s as assigned.
  • Communicate with clients to ensure we are meeting their needs.
  • Work collaboratively with individuals at all levels in the organization in a team environment.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to less experienced GIS team members.
  • Comply with all company and client safety standards.
  • Ensure personal/ professional information is accurate and maintained.
  • Participate in community and professional development activities.
  • Work closely with other disciplines on multi-disciplinary projects.
