About The Position

We are hiring a Lead Garage Door Technician to join our growing residential team. This is a hands-on field position, not a desk job. You'll install, troubleshoot, lead complex projects, help train other installers, and play an important role in improving the overall performance of the installation team. As our Lead Garage Door Technician, you'll be one of the go-to people in the field for installations, troubleshooting, quality, and technician development. The Lead Installer position is specifically responsible for supervising and training the installation team, maintaining field quality, reducing warranty callbacks, and taking the lead on major and complex projects.

Requirements

  • Strong hands-on garage door installation and repair experience
  • Residential garage door installation experience
  • Garage door openers and operators experience
  • Measuring for proper door installation experience
  • Experience with standard and low-headroom applications
  • Knowledge of headroom and sideroom requirements
  • Experience with torsion systems
  • Knowledge of spring line requirements
  • Experience with jackshaft applications
  • Knowledge of operator and wiring requirements
  • Diagnosing garage door installation problems
  • Correcting installation issues and callbacks
  • Extensive knowledge of garage door and operator installation and repair
  • Detailed understanding of installation measurements and different operating configurations
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

  • Install residential garage doors, openers, operators, and related equipment
  • Lead complex and specialty garage door installations
  • Troubleshoot difficult installation and operational issues
  • Train, mentor, and support installers in the field
  • Help newer technicians improve their skills, efficiency, and confidence
  • Inspect completed installations for quality and accuracy
  • Identify the cause of warranty issues and callbacks
  • Help reduce installation errors, rework, and repeat service calls
  • Work with customers and internal team members on larger projects
  • Make sure proper installation and safety procedures are followed
  • Help ensure crews have the equipment and materials needed for upcoming jobs
  • Recommend ways to improve installation processes, quality, and efficiency
