About The Position

Honeywell Aerospace is seeking an experienced Lead Embedded Digital Engineer for new product development and product improvement projects at its San Diego location. The role works with customers and multidisciplinary teams, shapes technical approaches that increase the digital footprint of products, and owns digital architecture for phased radar or Electronic Warfare applications from concept through production. The engineer also leads and mentors junior engineers. The position covers digital architecture and implementation across aerospace products, including requirements analysis and specification, trade-off studies, digital and firmware design, simulation, verification, system integration, and transition to production. Work includes circuit-card design oversight, FPGA architecture and VHDL firmware development, algorithms for RF electronics subsystems, and test and integration of circuit cards, subsystems, and systems. The role interfaces with RF subsystems and motion-controlled positioner assemblies and produces design and verification documentation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
  • At least 7 years of engineering experience in high-tech R&D and/or manufacturing companies.
  • Work experience in electronic product design and development.
  • Experience with all phases of circuit-card development, from inception through production, including architecture, schematics, layout, debug, and documentation, as well as FPGA applications.
  • At least 5 years of job experience using Altera Quartus, Xilinx Vivado, or similar FPGA development tools.
  • Experience with Digital Signal Processing (DSP) and other aspects of electrical engineering.
  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance in accordance with 32 CFR Part 117 (NISPOM); non-U.S. citizens are not eligible for clearance processing.

Nice To Haves

  • Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.
