About The Position

Acts as the lead Food Service Worker in a Satellite kitchen and is responsible for the operation of the kitchen. Performs varied semi-skilled tasks in food preparation and services. Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E. D.
  • Previous experience in large-scale food preparation.
  • Valid Washington State Food Handler’s Permit required.
  • Knowledge of food preparation methods and procedures.
  • Ability to read and comprehend written or verbal instructions.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers, fractions and percentages.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community.
  • Ability to work in a friendly manner with co-workers and students.
  • Knowledge and ability to effectively supervise kitchen in a positive and productive manner.
  • Good organizational, management, and leadership skills.
  • Knowledge and experience in safety and sanitary guidelines and practices.
  • Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out basic written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to perform job and communicate in a noisy environment.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for minimal meal preparation including cooking, preparation, assembling, serving and clean-up of meals.
  • Serve meals using correct portioning, meeting USDA minimum standards, and ensuring that food is at the correct temperatures.
  • Work cooperatively with the cook at the main preparation kitchen.
  • Serve food along lunch lines or serve a la carte lunches.
  • Cashier for lunch line.
  • Properly account for all served meals, as specified in regulations for the National School Lunch Program.
  • Order and receive daily meals from central kitchen and other food suppliers as needed and communicate any changes which affect the production needs.
  • Supervise other Food Service Workers assigned to the kitchen.
  • Supervise and instruct student workers assisting with the meal period.
  • Follow proper sanitation, food preparation, serving, safety and temperature control procedures in accordance with health department standards.
  • Operate standard cooking equipment.
  • Responsible for maintaining a safe work environment and reporting all problems to appropriate department in a timely manner.
  • Keep refrigerators and storerooms clean and neat.
  • All food and supply items are to be stored properly in accordance with health department standards.
  • Complete required paperwork in coordination with cook at main preparation kitchen to include, but not limited to: meal records satellite order and shipment sheets state production records
  • Attend all meetings and trainings as required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
