About The Position

The Lead Fleet Mechanic performs maintenance, diagnosis, and repairs on ranch and resort vehicles and off-road equipment in a safe, efficient, quality minded manner. With focus on automotive, Diesel and Heavy Equipment Repairs and Servicing, while providing leadership to the rest of the team.

Requirements

  • Any combination of training and experience equivalent to six (6) years’ experience with light pickup, automotive, fabrication and heavy equipment mechanic functions.
  • Must have a valid Montana commercial driver’s license with a verified acceptable driving record, or the ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) or similar mechanical certification and Department of Transportation (DOT) air brake certification, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Be the primary Mechanic to complete the more complex repairs and servicing of Diesel-Powered Vehicles and Heavy Equipment such as heavy-duty trucks, Skidsteers, Tractors, Grader and other equipment.
  • Perform operation test prior to repairs to verify complaint.
  • Diagnose cause of any malfunction and perform repairs to manufacturers specifications including engines, transmissions and clutches, suspension and steering, fuel and ignition (gas and diesel), electrical systems, brakes, and HVAC systems.
  • Follow paper-flow procedures including documenting correct mileage/hours, save and tag all warranty and core parts, document all repairs on work order using complaint, cause, and correction format, follow parts ordering/billing procedures.
  • Keep current and accurate service records on all vehicles and equipment.
  • Perform final operational test on all vehicles to quality-check all repairs.
  • Perform required inspections and preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment to maximize the safety, productivity, and life of the unit.
  • Fabrication experience as needed with special projects/repairs.
  • Assign tasks to team members.
  • Manage tasks and resources efficiently.
  • Maintain a clean shop area.
  • Maintain shop equipment and supply stock; Track shop tools and replace when lost or broken.
  • Move equipment safely in and out of service building.
  • Assist with resort road maintenance.
  • Communicate and maintain timelines and priorities.
  • Complete all Fleet Maintenance projects as assigned.
  • Plan and supervise major repairs.
  • Provide support and offer advice to team members, work as a team and provide leadership.
  • Be able to adapt to new situations and be innovative.
  • Responsible for training team members, setting strategy, and monitoring progress towards goals
  • Display hospitality and professionalism to our guests and team members at all times, take pride in representing The Resort at Paws Up professionally with our guests and assure that all transactions with guests are handled in a legal, ethical, and confidential manner.
  • Maintain a favorable working relationship with all Resort team members to foster and promote a positive working environment.
