About The Position

We offer comprehensive services including system design, installation, inspection, testing, monitoring, and repair for various systems such as fire sprinklers, fire alarms, special hazards, and more. We are known for quality workmanship, responsive service, and a strong safety-first culture. We are seeking a Lead Fire Alarm Technician based in our Norfolk, VA office. This role involves servicing, inspecting, and repairing Fire Alarm systems for commercial customers, with a focus on special hazards (FM200 preferred). Availability for on-call rotation is required.

Requirements

  • Valid Driver's License with 3 or fewer points.
  • Minimum of 3 years licensed driving experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years hands-on experience.
  • Functional knowledge to test and service Simplex, Notifier, and Fire-Lite fire alarm brands.
  • Ability to be available on-call when scheduled.
  • Comfortable working on ladders (6 to 12ft) and on lifts.
  • Ability to lift up to 70lbs, work overhead, and in unusual or small spaces (e.g., attics, crawl spaces).
  • Skills to communicate well with customers and explain the work being done and any repairs that are necessary.
  • Skills to write well and be very detailed in service work write-ups.

Nice To Haves

  • Special hazards experience, FM200 preferably.
  • NICET certification.
  • Advanced knowledge of diagnostics and system repair.
  • Experience performing special hazard suppression system inspection and repair (FM200 and Halon).

Responsibilities

  • Testing and inspecting fire alarm systems in commercial buildings.
  • Responding to service requests, diagnosing fire alarm system malfunctions, and adjusting, repairing, or replacing equipment as needed to ensure compliance.
  • Performing fire alarm system testing and inspection according to NFPA and local code standards.
  • Preparing accurate and timely inspection and service reports.
  • Communicating effectively with customers to explain work performed and necessary repairs.
  • Maintaining organization and processing all required documentation for services performed.
