About The Position

Professional Fire Protection, an affiliate of Guardian Fire Protection, is a trusted provider of fire protection and life safety solutions serving businesses in Virginia and Eastern North Carolina. We offer comprehensive services including system design, installation, inspection, testing, monitoring, and repair for various fire safety systems. We are seeking a Lead Fire Alarm Technician based in Ashland, VA, with experience in special hazards (preferably FM200) and a NICET certification is a plus. This role involves servicing, inspecting, and repairing Fire Alarm systems for commercial customers, with on-call rotation availability required.

Requirements

• Valid Driver's License with 3 or fewer points.
• Minimum of 3 years of licensed driving experience.
• Minimum of 2 years hands-on experience.
• Functional knowledge to test and service Simplex, Notifier, and Fire-Lite fire alarm brands.
• Ability to be available on-call when scheduled.
• Comfortable working on ladders (6 to 12ft) and on lifts.
• Ability to lift up to 70lbs, work overhead, and in unusual or small spaces such as attics and crawl spaces.
• Strong communication skills to interact with customers and explain work.
• Strong writing skills for detailed service reports.

Nice To Haves

• Special hazards, FM200 experience.
• NICET certification.
• Advanced knowledge of diagnostics and system repair.
• Experience performing special hazard suppression system inspection and repair (FM200 and Halon).

Responsibilities

• Testing and inspecting fire alarm systems in commercial buildings.
• Responding to service requests, diagnosing fire alarm system malfunctions, and adjusting, repairing, or replacing equipment as needed to ensure compliance.
• Performing fire alarm system testing and inspection according to NFPA and local code standards.
• Preparing accurate and timely inspection and service reports.
• Communicating effectively with customers to explain work performed and necessary repairs.
• Maintaining organization and tracking of service tickets and processing required documentation for each service performed.
