Lead Field Technician
About The Position
Skillforce is currently seeking an experienced, hands-on Lead Field Technician to oversee and work alongside a maintenance crew of up to 10 workers on a 5-week long project in Sandston, VA. This role involves leading a field team performing cleaning and maintenance on specialized cooling equipment in large industrial facilities and data centers. Work is physically active, hands-on, and performed in outdoor and industrial environments. This is a client-facing position, where the Lead Field Technician will communicate directly with the client on-site to coordinate daily work activities, confirm priorities, and ensure the project scope is being executed correctly.
Requirements
- Previous experience in construction, industrial maintenance, mechanical work, or similar hands-on environments preferred
- Prior leadership or crew lead experience strongly preferred
- Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to perform physical, hands-on work
- Ability to read and follow instructions, scopes of work, and jobsite direction
- Comfortable working outdoors and in varying weather conditions
- Experience using hand tools and basic maintenance equipment
- Reliable attendance and dependable transportation
- Ability to pass a background check
- OSHA 10 Certification
Responsibilities
- Lead and work alongside a crew of laborers and technicians on daily tasks
- Coordinate daily work activities with the client and site contacts
- Perform hands-on maintenance work on industrial cooling systems and equipment
- Clean cooling coils and related system components
- Remove and replace air filtration components as needed
- Ensure all work is completed safely, correctly, and on schedule
- Monitor crew performance and maintain quality standards
- Submit daily job reports and updates
- Track and manage crew timekeeping
- Report any on-site issues, delays, or safety concerns immediately
- Support onboarding, training, and direction of crew members as needed
- Follow all site-specific safety rules and company procedures
