About The Position

The AMRT organization is seeking a technically focused Lead Engineer to drive the advancement and evaluation of our Hydrogen Fluoride Ion Cleaning (HFIC) and critical surface preparation technologies. In this role, you will be the primary technical authority for process outcomes, responsible for analyzing process results, refining technical parameters, and developing improvements to our cleaning and pre-joining methods. You will serve as the technical engine behind our surface prep strategy, ensuring that our repair processes for gas turbine superalloys consistently meet the highest standards for quality, integrity, and performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Materials Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field.
  • At least 3 years of professional experience in the processing, cleaning, or joining of high-temperature metals and superalloys (Gas Turbine or Aviation industry preferred).
  • Demonstrated experience in technical process development, evaluation, or materials analysis related to surface prep or chemical cleaning.
  • Ability to travel globally (estimated 10–15% travel) to support process industrialization and technical troubleshooting.

Nice To Haves

  • Proven ability to interpret metallurgical results, analyze chemical process data, and translate those findings into process improvements.
  • Correlation of cleanliness with braze flow and full design intent.
  • Strong understanding of HFIC mechanics, vacuum furnace processing, and the chemical/thermal dynamics involved in superalloy surface preparation.
  • Preferred knowledge base of HFIC systems and Acid Stripping systems in use within GE Vernova
  • Proficiency in data analysis, report writing, and documentation; ability to provide clear, evidence-based technical guidance to shop floor and engineering teams.
  • Solid foundational knowledge of superalloy metallurgy, specifically regarding the impact of surface contamination and the effectiveness of various cleaning/prep methodologies.
  • Ability to manage multiple technical improvement projects simultaneously, with a clear focus on achieving defined quality and process performance targets.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, industrialization, and refinement of HFIC and surface preparation technologies to ensure superior component cleaning and repair quality.
  • Perform in-depth evaluations of process results; analyze metallurgical and chemical data to validate process success and identify areas for technical improvement.
  • Identify and execute process-specific improvements focused on optimizing chemistry, thermal cycles, and surface prep methods for complex superalloy hardware.
  • Author and maintain rigorous technical process specifications, ensuring that all repair steps are clearly defined, repeatable, and aligned with design engineering requirements.
  • Provide technical support to global repair facilities by diagnosing process-related issues, conducting failure analysis on surface prep defects, and implementing corrective technical solutions.
  • Evaluate new surface prep technologies and methodologies, leading the technical qualification and deployment of these solutions into the production environment.
