About The Position

The Research Foundation of The City University of New York (RFCUNY) is seeking a Lead Faculty for the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program at LaGuardia Community College. This program aims to foster job creation and economic growth by providing entrepreneurs with business education, access to capital, and support services. The curriculum is delivered through an intensive 3-4 month program in collaboration with top business schools, focusing on practical business fundamentals and growth plan formulation. The Lead Faculty will be responsible for the consistent and high-fidelity delivery of this curriculum, ensuring alignment with other program components and supervising part-time faculty to maintain instructional quality. The role involves facilitating key modules, opening and closing sessions, managing people in a fast-paced environment, and designing effective programs. The Lead Faculty will also work closely with the Executive Director, LaGuardia administrators, educators, and external partners like Goldman Sachs.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree and deep content knowledge in a field related to entrepreneurship and/or small business.
  • Ability to recruit, select, train, oversee, and develop Faculty.
  • Ability to assist in building and sustaining a high functioning and performing curriculum delivery team.
  • Familiarity with basic technology (WORD, PowerPoint, e.g.) and a willingness to learn new tools (e.g., Canvas, LivePlan, Zoom, SalesForce, etc.).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with academic program design, implementation, and operations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • High personal and professional ethical standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a small business owner a plus.
  • Expert in adult learning techniques and group facilitation, emphasizing experiential and peer learning approaches, preferred.
  • Expert in blending theory and practice and integrating across business disciplines in a classroom.

Responsibilities

  • Consistent, high-fidelity delivery of the curriculum.
  • Ensuring alignment between the curriculum and other key program components.
  • Reviewing and interviewing potential program participants.
  • Supervising and managing part-time faculty to maintain instructional quality, continuity, and effective session delivery.
  • Facilitating the Orientation, Module 1, and Module 9 modules, and opening and closing every module, clinic, and/or workshop.
  • Managing people in a fast-paced, growing environment.
  • Designing effective programs to deliver for program participants.
  • Ensuring the curriculum, business services, networking, and mentoring components are comprehensive and enable small businesses to grow and lead to job creation.
  • Implementing innovative methods for teaching small businesses how to expand.
  • Working closely and effectively with the Executive Director, administrators and educators at LaGuardia, and external partners, including Goldman Sachs, academic partners, and financial institutions.
  • Assisting in the identification, recruitment, and development of module faculty.
  • Participating in the national 10KSB Training Seminar.
  • Proposing curriculum innovations for core and localized sections.
  • Managing the points of integration with curriculum, business support services, networking, and access to capital.
  • Supervising the preparation of all course materials and course delivery logistics (room, equipment, etc.).
  • Coordinating scheduling and assisting module faculty as needed to support quality curriculum delivery.
  • Leading preparatory walk-throughs for each module (in person).
  • Serving as the key local “go to” person for curriculum questions or issues.
  • Adapting curriculum and/or teaching style based on assessment results and professional development experiences.
  • Participating in debriefing sessions to support program integration and consistency.
  • Assisting with local maintenance of Canvas to support current business owners, including ensuring module folders and materials are accessible each week.
  • Providing content guidance and oversight to 10KSB Business Advisors on program content and delivery.
  • Overseeing faculty scheduling, communication, and delivery expectations.
  • Facilitating growth groups, as needed.
  • Assisting in the review of applications and the interview of applicants for program participation, as needed (3 cohorts per year).
  • Other duties as assigned.
