About The Position

Valicor Environmental Services is looking for a Lead Facility Maintenance Technician to work in our Adamsville, Alabama facility. The Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) Maintenance Technician is responsible for the installation, calibration, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of electrical, instrumentation, and control systems used in wastewater treatment and Central Waste Treatment (CWT) operations. This role ensures reliable plant operation, regulatory compliance, and safe handling of industrial and hazardous wastewater streams.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED (technical degree preferred)
  • 3+ years experience as an I&E or Electrical Technician in WWTP, CWT or industrial treatment facilities, chemical, refinery, or manufacturing environments
  • Strong knowledge of Industrial instrumentation and controls
  • Electrical systems up to 480V (higher a plus)
  • PLC/SCADA systems
  • Ability to read P&IDs, electrical schematics, and loop diagrams
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to work in industrial environments with exposure to chemicals, wastewater, odors, noise, and outdoor conditions
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and climb ladders/stairs
  • On-call availability for plant emergencies and outages

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in Instrumentation, Electrical Technology, or related field
  • Journeyman Electrician or Instrument Technician certification
  • Wastewater Operator License (state-specific)
  • Experience with hazardous waste and RCRA-regulated facilities
  • NFPA 70E training

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and calibrate field instrumentation including flow meters (magnetic, ultrasonic), level transmitters (ultrasonic, radar, pressure), pressure, temperature, and conductivity sensors, pH, ORP, turbidity, TSS, and dissolved oxygen analyzers
  • Perform loop checks, signal verification, and instrument calibration per SOPs and regulatory requirements
  • Troubleshoot PLC, SCADA, and DCS systems (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Modicon)
  • Maintain control panels, I/O racks, VFDs, MCCs, and motor starters
  • Assist with control logic modifications under engineer supervision
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on motors, pumps, blowers, centrifuges, and mixers, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), Power distribution systems (low and medium voltage)
  • Diagnose electrical faults using schematics, P&IDs, and one-line diagrams
  • Perform conduit installation, wire pulling, terminations, and panel wiring
  • Maintain grounding, bonding, and lightning protection systems
  • Ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA 70E, and plant electrical safety standards
  • Support treatment processes including equalization, neutralization, precipitation, biological treatment (aerobic/anaerobic systems), dissolved Air Flotation (DAF)
  • Maintain analyzers used for regulatory compliance monitoring
  • Assist operations staff during process upsets or equipment failures
  • Ensure critical alarms and interlocks function correctly
  • Follow all OSHA, EPA, and site-specific safety policies
  • Maintain documentation for calibrations, maintenance, and repairs
  • Update calibration logs, maintenance records, and asset management systems (CMMS)
  • Assist with development and revision of SOPs
  • Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) and reliability improvement efforts
  • Recommend equipment upgrades and process improvements
