About The Position

The Museum of Ancient Life Guest Experiences Lead is responsible for interacting with visitors of all ages at the Museum of Ancient Life, both at the front desk and within the venue, to ignite transformative family learning and guide exploration. This role acts as the main contact for team members in the absence of other management to resolve guest complaints, Tessitura questions, and other issues. The Lead Explorer supports the Thanksgiving Point mission, values, vision, and commitment to visitor experience and community engagement in a venue that helps guests explore life over 65 million years ago through hands-on exhibits. Responsibilities include supporting, training, mentoring, and developing team members for admissions and facilitation, assisting the management team in day-to-day operations, and following systems and standards to achieve sales, membership, and business development goals. The position also participates in a culture of ongoing learning, collaboration, innovation, and creativity, ensuring team members have the necessary tools for success, and assists in keeping the gift shop organized and stocked. The Lead Explorer must exemplify Thanksgiving Point’s Mission, Values, and Policies with compassion, confidence, and curiosity. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Positive attitude including great guest service skills and abilities.
  • Ability to make decisions independently and work effectively as a team member.
  • Organized, reliable, kind, and professional at all times.
  • Able to stand on feet for long periods of time, lift 30 lbs., manipulate small objects, and speaks fluent English.
  • One year of experience in a supervisory role.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Pass a background check.
  • Be at least 18 years old.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in customer service, hospitality and/or youth leadership and museum experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Interact with visitors of all ages at the Museum of Ancient Life at the front desk and inside the venue, to ignite transformative family learning and guide exploration.
  • Acts as main contact for team members in the absence of other members of management to resolve guest complaints, Tessitura questions, and other issues.
  • Support the Thanksgiving Point mission, values, vision and commitment to the visitor experience and community engagement in a venue that helps guests explore what life was like over 65 million years ago through more than 50 hands-on exhibits, like the Erosion Table, the Quarry Dig, Jurassic Jungle, and party rooms.
  • Responsible for supporting, training, mentoring and developing team members for admissions and facilitation.
  • Assist management team in day-to-day operations.
  • Follows systems and standards, including scripts that reinforce the institute goals while achieving sales goals, membership goals and business development.
  • Participates in a culture of ongoing learning, collaboration, innovation and creativity both within and across all departments.
  • Ensures that team members have the necessary tools to be successful.
  • Assists in keeping gift shop organized and stocked.
  • Exemplify Thanksgiving Point’s Mission, Values and Policies with compassion, confidence, and curiosity.
  • Other duties as assigned.
