About The Position

EQUALS TRUE is seeking a Lead Experience Designer for a remote-first, full-time, 6-month project. This role focuses on designing end-to-end experiences for payments compliance, identity verification, and regulatory initiatives within the fintech sector. The designer will translate complex regulatory requirements into intuitive user experiences, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and navigate ambiguous product challenges autonomously. The position involves using AI-powered prototyping, influencing leadership, and providing indirect design leadership and mentorship.

Requirements

7+ years of product or experience design experience with Lead or Staff-level scope and ownership.
Experience designing complex compliance, fintech, payments, identity verification, KYC, or regulatory products.
Strong visual and interaction design craft with the ability to translate complex rules, requirements, and systems into clear experiences.
Strong systems thinking and experience designing scalable platforms or product ecosystems.
Proven ability to navigate ambiguity, absorb complex domain knowledge, and work autonomously with limited hand-holding.
Experience defining design vision, influencing product strategy, and owning 0-to-1 initiatives or major product redesigns.
Experience with AI-powered prototyping, combined with strong storytelling, communication, stakeholder management, and the ability to influence and mentor others.

Responsibilities

Own end-to-end experience design across payments compliance, identity verification, and regulatory initiatives.
Translate complex regulatory requirements and business rules into clear, intuitive, and trustworthy experiences that guide users through demanding processes.
Partner with Product, Engineering, Data Science, Research, and Writing to define problems, map user flows, prototype interactions, and launch scalable solutions.
Balance regulatory, technical, business, and user constraints while maintaining a strong user-centered design perspective.
Navigate complex domain knowledge and ambiguous product challenges autonomously, defining design direction and influencing product strategy.
Use AI-powered prototyping to explore, iterate, and validate concepts earlier in the design process.
Influence leadership through strong storytelling while providing indirect design leadership, mentorship, and thoughtful project scoping across teams.
