About The Position

The Lead Event Technician will lead the daily operations of the Technical Services Department, assist in training new staff, and ensure the daily event schedule is adhered to and completed on time. This role involves developing and sharing ideas with the Audio Visual Systems Manager for department improvement, maintaining equipment inventory and storage organization and cleanliness, and supervising and instructing Technical Services employees during event setup, operation, and strike. The Lead Event Technician will also meet continuously with the AVSM and perform other duties as assigned by the Audio-Visual Systems Manager.

Requirements

• Must be currently enrolled at SFSU with a minimum of 6 units for undergraduates or 4 units for graduates.
• Equipment operation and maintenance experience, including sound reinforcement, video, general audio/visual systems and equipment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to maintain a professional while working under pressure and meeting deadlines with a constantly changing event schedule.
• Quick thinking, problem solving, positive attitude.
• Knowledge of the principles and practices of AS.
• Knowledge or ability to quickly learn the structure and procedures of AS.

Nice To Haves

• Supervisory experience preferred.
