About The Position

Lumin8 is seeking a Lead Estimator to manage the estimating team, ensuring accurate and complete cost estimates for projects. This role involves developing detailed cost breakdowns, preparing material lists, attending pre-bid meetings, performing field take-offs, and reviewing project documents. The Lead Estimator will also be responsible for preparing and submitting change orders, evaluating bid accuracy, developing RFQs, leading performance reviews for estimating staff, and coordinating bid reviews with senior management. This position requires a strong understanding of cost accounting, building codes, and traffic signal construction methods, with proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and estimating software. The role emphasizes a team approach and the ability to work independently in an office or remote setting. Essential functions are to be performed primarily in a Company-designated office or field location.

• Able to read and understand civil, architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, technology etc. Plans and specifications to include blueprints, proposals and other relevant documents
• Knowledge of products and methods of installation in traffic signal construction
• Experience developing estimates with HeavyBid specifically or other similar software such Accubid, Bluebeam, etc.

• Self-driven with the ability to stay on task for extended periods of time while working independently either in the office or remotely
• 3-5 years of Construction Estimating experience in transportation, roadway and civil construction/field work. Vertical construction not applicable.
• Experience in MEP roadway design-build and conceptual budget pricing required

Nice To Haves

• Field Project Management experience preferred
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a similar field; a combination of relevant education and experience considered lieu of a degree

Responsibilities

• Manage estimating team to track, prepare, and submit complete estimates
• Follow company Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) for Estimating
• Develop and prepare complete cost estimates for Labor, Materials, OH per project
• Prepare bills of material and other information for use by Construction, Purchasing and Accounting
• Attend pre-bid and pre-con meetings with Construction
• Participate in site visits and pre-bid meetings as needed
• Perform field take-offs/evaluations for project estimate preparation
• Review project documents for accuracy and consistency
• Lead development of handover documents for the project team
• Assist construction personnel throughout the project life cycle in tracking and understanding of cost estimates
• Preparation and submission of Change Orders
• Review final cost of completed projects to evaluate bid accuracy
• Develop RFQ’s from vendors
• Lead the review and evaluation of Estimating staff performance
• Coordinate schedule for bid reviews with senior management
• Support a team approach to estimating by coordinating with other company estimators
• Performs other duties as assigned.
