About The Position

As a Lead Engineering (all genders) for Video & Social Dating, you are responsible for leading a cross-functional team spanning iOS, Android, Backend, and QA. You combine strong technical expertise with people leadership, ensuring your team delivers high-quality features while continuously evolving technically and operationally. You collaborate closely with other Leads, Product, and Agile to drive product success and platform maturity. This role balances hands-on engineering with leadership, giving you a direct impact on what we build, how we build it, and how the team grows.

Requirements

• At least 7 years of professional software engineering experience, ideally in backend or platform engineering, with a strong track record of building and operating production-grade services.
• Strong hands-on experience with Node.js and the design, development, and operation of scalable microservices architectures.
• Practical experience with AWS-based environments and event-driven systems using messaging and streaming technologies such as RabbitMQ / RMQ and Kafka.
• Strong technical judgment and experience driving complex features or systems from idea to production.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• A coaching mindset and a genuine interest in helping others grow.
• A strong sense of ownership, prioritization, and accountability.
• AI focused vision and hands on experience using AI tools such as Claude to create meaningful value in engineering workflows, technical decision-making, or product development.

• Experience leading cross-functional initiatives or coordinating work across teams.
• Experience mentoring engineers and helping teams grow in maturity, quality, and collaboration.
• Experience guiding architectural decisions and balancing short-term delivery with long-term sustainability.
• Experience with additional cloud platforms, especially GCP.
• Familiarity with observability, monitoring, and reliability tooling, ideally Dash0.
• Experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• Experience with TypeScript in backend, frontend, or full-stack environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop one or more cross-functional engineering teams spanning iOS, Android, Backend, and QA, with full people responsibility, including hiring, performance management, and career development.
• Drive technical leadership across the team by setting architectural direction, guiding key decisions, and ensuring solutions are scalable and maintainable.
• Shape and evolve scalable microservices-based systems using modern cloud, messaging, observability, and AI-enabled engineering practices.
• Actively contribute to the codebase by developing key features and setting engineering standards through hands-on involvement.
• Guide technical decisions to ensure scalable, maintainable, and high-performing solutions.
• Ensure code quality through reviews, mentoring, and hands-on best practices.
• Align team delivery with product goals, ensuring timely and predictable outcomes.
• Partner closely with Product Management and other Engineering Leads to align priorities and architecture, drive outcomes, and ensure business impact.
• Foster an inclusive, high-trust team culture with a strong focus on collaboration and accountability.
