Lead Engineering Technician

About The Position

This position involves performing a variety of engineering technician functions for the design, operation, maintenance, modification, test, and improvement of systems. The role includes distributing and balancing daily workloads among team members, reporting on expected work completion times, and maintaining records. A key responsibility is managing the property book for non-expendable equipment and tools, and scheduling/recording pertinent data to support operations.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation T1 NACI.
  • One year probationary period.
  • One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Analyzing engineering data to improve industrial processes; 2) Developing technical documentation, such as statements of work or cost estimates, for engineering projects and service contracts.; 3) Resolving technical problems by modifying procedures in mechanical, electrical, and chemical systems; and 4) Providing technical guidance to employees on work methods, equipment operations, and safety protocols.
  • Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
  • Must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
  • You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
  • This position requires a 1 year probationary period during which the agency evaluates your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest.
  • Continued employment requires written certification that it advances the public interest.
  • Direct deposit of pay is required.
  • Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.
