About The Position

This position is responsible for performance, management, and oversight of regulatory and compliance activities pertinent to Transmission Planning. The successful candidate for this role is expected to manage work in areas specific to FERC/NERC compliance, coordination with Florida utility peers through the regional planning organization, rate cases and other hearings at the state and local level, and any other regulatory and/or compliance activities as they emerge. This position will be filled at the Lead Engineer level which is at the specialist level of the Engineering classification hierarchy. Employees at this level solve complex problems, manage work, and provide leadership to others in engineering areas of specialization, with minimal supervision and increased latitude for un-reviewed work. The Lead Engineer serves in lead roles providing guidance as well as coaching and mentoring of others. They are also expected to have advanced skills and have the ability to work independently.

Requirements

Must have obtained Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program and PE
Minimum of 8 years of engineering experience
Nuclear may require either Professional Engineer registration, a Masters Degree in a technical discipline, SRO certification, an RO or SRO license, or Technical Nuclear certification.
A Master's degree in Engineering will be considered in lieu of the B.S. Engineering degree.

Responsibilities

Achieve and maintain compliance with all Transmission Planning-applicable NERC Reliability Standards.
Ensure timely, high-quality filings on FERC Orders and provide impactful comments on NOPRs.
Assist with FRCC regulatory and compliance efforts, interfacing with FRCC staff and FRCC members.
Meet all Florida Public Service Commission (FPSC) requirements for Transmission Planning, demonstrating strong knowledge of relevant state laws and regulations.
Participate on inter-utility system working groups and perform related studies.
Provide technical support to other areas of Transmission and the company on Transmission Planning-related regulatory and compliance issues.
Potentially serve as witness for FERC, NERC, state (e.g., rate cases and other need hearings), or local regulatory efforts.
Represent company on industry drafting teams shaping industry standards.
Support OATT activities, including wholesale planning project justification and 7-factor/Mansfield testing.
Support the company's goals and represent the company in a positive professional manner with customers, consultants, and utility peers.
