About The Position

Vickers and Nolan Enterprises (VNE) is an engineering company that provides Government projects and programs with experienced and dedicated system architects, engineers, subject matter experts (in tactical intelligence), and program managers. VNE develops training courses and tools to prepare warfighters to effectively employ tactical intelligence systems and provide management guidance to the Government organizations that develop these systems. VNE is seeking a Lead Engineer (LE) to support the research, development, integration, test and evaluation, fielding, documentation, and sustainment of DoD hardware systems and electrical/electronic architectures. This role supports complex ISR, SIGINT, EW, and C4ISR systems, with emphasis on hardware integration, power systems, RF systems, and platform-level engineering across ground, vehicular, and deployable environments. The Lead Engineer will work with project/program managers to provide technical leadership across the full system lifecycle, ensuring successful delivery of hardware-centric solutions that meet mission and performance requirements.

Requirements

  • TS/SCI Cleared (or Secret level Clearance required, Must be able to obtain TS/SCI)
  • BS degree in Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other engineering related field.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience supporting DoD programs involving hardware, electrical, or integrated system engineering, to include: System architecture and design, Electrical and hardware system development, Integration of multi-domain systems (RF, power, communications equipment), Test and evaluation of hardware systems, Development of engineering documentation and technical data packages.
  • Experience leading multi-disciplinary engineering efforts and serving as a technical authority for hardware/system integration.
  • Work experience and knowledge of leading and participating in program reviews (System Requirements Review, Preliminary Design Review, Critical Design Review, Test Readiness Review, Functional Configuration Audit, Physical Configuration Audit, and others) and providing technical recommendations to Government stakeholders.
  • Work experience and knowledge of development of engineering documentation, including: Technical Data Packages (TDPs), Schematics and wiring diagrams, Interface Control Documents (ICDs), Performance and system specifications, Trade studies and Analysis of Alternatives (AoAs), Requirements Traceability Matrices (RTMs).

Responsibilities

  • Support the research, development, integration, test and evaluation, fielding, documentation, and sustainment of DoD hardware systems and electrical/electronic architectures.
  • Provide technical leadership across the full system lifecycle, ensuring successful delivery of hardware-centric solutions that meet mission and performance requirements.
  • Design, development, and integration of hardware and electrical systems, including RF subsystems, power distribution, embedded electronics, and platform integration kits (PIKs).
  • System architecture development and allocation of electrical, mechanical, and interface requirements across C4ISR systems.
  • Hardware integration and interoperability across sensors, communications equipment, power systems, and external interfaces.
  • Development and management of engineering documentation, including Technical Data Packages (TDPs), drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, Interface Control Documents (ICDs), and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Configuration management and lifecycle sustainment of hardware systems, including obsolescence management and upgrade planning.
  • Coordination with cross-functional teams (engineering, testing, production, logistics, and system operators) to ensure integrated system performance meets operational requirements.
  • Technical oversight of prototype builds, fielding kits, and production efforts, including vendor coordination and manufacturing support.
  • Program and stakeholder engagement, including participation in design reviews and audits (SRR, PDR, CDR, FCA, PCA), technical interchange meetings, and customer briefings.
  • Communicate task requirement information to client in a clear and concise manner.
  • Attend work each day, during scheduled hours, unless on travel or approved time off.
  • Work on computer for long periods, and communicate with individuals by telephone, email and face-to-face.
