About The Position

BlueScope Buildings North America’s Engineering department delivers safe, innovative, high-quality structural and construction engineering solutions, prioritizing cost efficiency and supporting internal teams and external customers. The Lead Engineer uses engineering systems and drawings to coordinate projects and provide structural design services and models for customers. The role also coordinates and provides leadership to design engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering.
• Professional Engineering registration.
• At least 6 years of engineering experience.
• At least 2 years of engineering experience on complex multi-unit projects.
• Solid knowledge of building codes.
• Knowledge of steel design.
• Experience developing and managing strong customer relationships.

Nice To Haves

• 10 years of Pre-Engineered Metal Building (PEMB) experience.
• 5 years of experience with complex structural design projects.
• Competence in company systems and applications.
• Competent knowledge of company products and design procedures.

Responsibilities

• Provide well-utilized designs of members and connections for detailing and manufacturing that meet customer requirements.
• Ensure the structural integrity and safety of buildings.
• Develop advanced product and procedure knowledge and improve technical knowledge.
• Focus on department objectives, profitability goals, and continuous improvement as part of a high-performance work team.
• Collaborate with project teams to discuss problems and challenges and develop cost-effective, efficient solutions.
• Provide technical assistance to customers on specific projects and to new entry-level designers.
• Supervise and review the work of the Design Team.
• Direct, mentor, and train staff, and prepare them for career development.
• Develop and monitor standard processes.
