This role involves collaborating, performing, and leading reliability and/or economic driven studies, including voltage, thermal, PV, transfer limit, short circuit, and stability assessments. The Lead Engineer will analyze and assess complex transmission systems at numerous voltage levels, documenting and communicating results and recommendations through data manipulation, report writing, and summary presentations. The position requires a continuous effort to innovate and integrate improvements to enhance the precision and efficiency of transmission planning. Additionally, the role involves seeking out and developing subject matter expert skills to mentor and support the team, fostering the advancement of business needs. Collaboration and interaction with internal teams and industry peers on regional activities (e.g., NPCC, ISO’s, etc.) are essential. The Lead Engineer will develop and apply a thorough understanding of various planning criteria, guidelines, standards (e.g., NERC, NPCC, etc.) and analysis software packages such as PSS/E, TARA, and ASPEN. Participation in transmission and substation site inspections, and attendance at industry workshops, training, and user group meetings are also part of the role.
