About The Position

HII - Mission Technologies is seeking a highly skilled Systems Architecture Engineer to support a government program based in Knoxville, TN. This role is responsible for owning and defining the overall system architecture for advanced cabinet-based systems, ensuring robust integration, protection, and operability across all major components. Requirements

  • 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
  • 5 years of experience in system architecture, electrical system design, or integrated hardware system development.
  • Strong understanding of electrical power systems, including voltage/current limitations, grounding strategies, and protection schemes.
  • Experience defining system interfaces and working with cabinet-level or enclosure-based system designs.
  • Hands-on experience evaluating and selecting major hardware components (e.g., power electronics, controllers, sensors, protection devices).
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and technical communication skills.
  • Clearance: Secret level security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Own and develop the complete system architecture, ensuring alignment with program requirements and engineering standards.
  • Define cabinet-level interfaces, ensuring compatibility, scalability, and clarity across subsystems.
  • Establish voltage and current limits to ensure electrical safety, compliance, and optimal system performance.
  • Develop and implement grounding, bonding, and protection strategies to support reliable and secure system operation.
  • Ensure proper interface and seamless integration with the existing controller architecture.
  • Lead major component selection decisions, evaluating technical performance, risk, cost, and lifecycle considerations.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with electrical, mechanical, software, and program teams to ensure cohesive system delivery.
  • Provide technical leadership throughout design, development, integration, and testing phases.
