Lead Engineer, Platform Engineering
About The Position
The Ecommerce Engineering Team provides a scalable, highly performant platform for Ecommerce experiences serving US and international customers. Its experiences reach millions of Aloyoga customers through multiple channels, with most interactions occurring on mobile web browsers, primarily Safari and Chrome. The services also support loyal customers using the native iOS app. The Lead Engineer, Platform Engineering is responsible for driving initiatives as a technical owner, including alignment, architecture, and execution in Ecommerce Technology’s problem space. As a senior team member, this role takes ownership and responsibility for work performed by other team members. Software Engineers are expected to contribute hands-on code and participate in architecture and design.
Requirements
- 10+ years of web development experience building, leading, and architecting digital products and services, microservices, and distributed systems.
- Proficiency with event-driven architecture.
- Awareness of cross-browser compatibility issues and client-side versus server-side performance considerations.
- Experience with major cloud providers, including AWS and GCP.
- Proficiency with ReactJS/Redux, HTML5, CSS3, and Web Pixels.
- DevOps expertise with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, logging, telemetry, monitoring, and alerting.
- A proven track record of troubleshooting production issues.
- Ability to break complex work into smaller, simpler building blocks to ensure continuous delivery.
- Attention to detail, curiosity to learn, competitiveness in collaboration, and enjoyment of taking on challenges.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with technical and non-technical partners.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with ecommerce platforms such as BigCommerce, Commerce tools, or Shopify.
- Experience integrating third-party products and vendors.
- Experience with architecture and design approaches to optimize performance using edge computing, CDNs, browser caching, and incremental rendering for fast ecommerce sites.
