This position, which offers a blend of onsite and hybrid work arrangements, is based in Grand Rapids or Clearwater, FL and necessitates a presence in the office for 2-3 days each week. An extensive corporate relocation package is also available for eligible candidates. As a Model Based Systems Engineer (individual contributor) within the Computing, Networking, and Military Systems organization, your role encompasses driving the development and implementation of innovative solutions for advanced military and civil platforms. You will be at the forefront of exploring and capitalizing on emerging market opportunities. Your responsibilities include engaging in the design, development, integration, and testing of embedded software applications, with a focus on Future Vertical Lift applications and defense systems. This position is pivotal in ensuring the successful execution of business strategies related to new technologies and adjacent sectors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in EE, Software Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, or similar
  • 2 years’ Experience in MBSE engineering development
  • 2 years’ Experience with a modeling language (UPDM, SysML, UML, etc.)
  • 2 years’ Experience with MBSE tooling (Cameo, Sparx, Rhapsody, etc.)
  • Ability & Willingness to obtain and maintain DoD Security Clearance.
  • This position requires U.S. citizenship status.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of aviation systems development processes including ARP4754A or similar.
  • Experience in Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) using SysML in Cameo/NoMagic tool for the design and verification of avionics-based systems.
  • Experience with scripting in Python, JavaScript, Groovy, etc.
  • Knowledge of the key aspects of developing and maintaining of a Product Line.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Independent problem solving.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead programs through the entire systems engineering lifecycle IAW ARP4754A , DO-178, and DO-254 including execution of systems engineering technical reviews (internal and external).
  • Define, validate, and verify system requirements, including initial integration of software and hardware using Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) approaches.
  • Generate and allocate system functional requirements and functional architecture into efficient software and firmware architectures utilizing MBSE.
  • Define data interfaces and component interactions utilizing model-based approaches for configuration of components and systems.
  • Develop innovative technical solutions utilizing the full capabilities of GE Aviation Systems on development programs and proposals.
  • Interact with customer engineering organizations to define and shape requirements for future platforms and systems.
  • Define and maintain program plans for execution of systems processes IAW ARP4754.
  • Develop new tools and automation scripts in support of MBSE objectives.
  • Support configuration control of model-based artifacts for development assurance objective satisfaction.
