Lead Engineer - MBE Technology

GE Aerospace•Evendale, OH
•Onsite

About The Position

The Lead Engineer – MBE Technology drives the execution and end-to-end delivery of projects that improve data continuity, digital traceability, and collaboration across the product development-to-manufacturing lifecycle. You will help build the GE Aerospace digital ecosystem that enables GE Edison Works to deliver next-generation propulsion systems with speed, rigor, and repeatability. This position is ideal for a highly collaborative engineer who brings technical depth in Model Based Engineering / Model Based Definition (MBD) and the initiative to turn new ideas into sustainable, scalable standards. You will work across Engineering, Product Definition, Sourcing, Supply Chain, and Operations to ensure MBD data is accurate, complete, interoperable, and consumable by downstream manufacturing and inspection processes. A key part of the role is external supplier enablement: you will build relationships with supplier sites, assess digital maturity, and create/execute roadmaps—using standard work—to align supplier capabilities with customer requirements and supplier shop business realities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field from an accredited university or college (OR a High School Diploma/GED with 4 years Software Engineering Experience) + 4 years relevant experience
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
  • Ability to align stakeholders across diverse groups (Engineering, Product Definition, Sourcing, Supply Chain)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Government Security Clearance

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ year of experience in aerospace
  • Experience with standards and process development
  • Experience with digital transformation and data traceability initiatives (e.g., characteristic traceability through the product lifecycle)
  • Knowledge of manufacturing and quality processes and equipment
  • Experience applying product definition within manufacturing and quality planning/execution (e.g., shop floor routing, CAM, CAI)
  • Knowledge of the design process and PMI reuse in Manufacturing and Quality
  • Knowledge of product definition standards and GD&T
  • Experience using Siemens NX CAD and Teamcenter
  • Experience with MBD-related standards (ASME Y14.5, ASME Y14.41, ASME Y14.47, MILSTD-31000B) and interoperable file formats (STEP 242, QIF, JT)
  • Experience with CAD and PLM software and MBD-related software (e.g., ITI CADIQ, Capvidia MBDvivia, or similar tools)

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive MB-DMI objectives using strong technical competency and systems thinking.
  • Ensure creation and maintenance of MBD data elements (geometry, annotations, attributes, product characteristics, presentation states) to both human- and machine-readable standards.
  • Develop and implement processes and standards for model-based data creation and ongoing management.
  • Partner across functions to ensure MBD data is accurate, complete, and traceable across the product lifecycle.
  • Work with internal and external operations teams to enable seamless digital consumption of MBD data in manufacturing and inspection environments.
  • Develop and maintain MBD data structures that support interoperability between information systems (e.g., CAD/PLM and downstream consumers).
  • Stay current with industry trends and advancements in MBD/MBE and related technologies to recommend improvements and influence future direction.
