As Lead Engineer, Marketing Technology, you'll be the technical authority driving the architecture and evolution of Sephora's cutting-edge marketing platforms. Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a full-stack software engineer, technical lead, or senior engineer building production systems from first principles, with strong proficiency in TypeScript, Python, and/or Java.
  • 3+ years of experience designing and implementing microservices, RESTful/GraphQL APIs, and cloud-based distributed systems on AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience building or integrating AI/ML-powered features and agentic workflows into production applications, including familiarity with RAG pipelines, vector databases, and leading AI model platforms.
  • 3+ years of experience in a MarTech, SaaS, e-commerce, or consumer-facing application environment, with hands-on familiarity with platforms such as Google Marketing Platform, Braze, or Bluecore.
  • 2+ years of proven experience leading cross-functional technical initiatives, driving architectural decisions under ambiguity, and mentoring engineering teams.
  • Demonstrated daily use of AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or Cursor to write, refactor, debug, and accelerate software delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the technical lead for key Marketing Technology initiatives, providing architectural guidance and hands-on expertise across web, mobile, and in-store platforms.
  • Design, implement, and maintain robust, scalable, and secure full-stack systems that power marketing campaigns, retail media, and personalization platforms.
  • Architect and implement AI-powered agentic workflows for software development acceleration and business process automation, leveraging modern orchestration frameworks such as LangGraph, CrewAI, OpenAI Agents SDK, and Amazon Bedrock Agents.
  • Partner with product managers, designers, data scientists, and business stakeholders to translate complex business requirements into reliable, impactful technical solutions.
  • Champion and enforce engineering best practices, coding standards, and architectural guidelines across the team, rooted in software engineering first principles.
  • Mentor and coach junior and mid-level engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, learning, and accountability — including upskilling the team on AI-assisted development practices.
