About The Position

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a dedicated, detail-oriented Electrical Quality Specialist to join its Engineer’s Construction Management Team on heavy industrial construction projects. The role involves field assignments in the southeastern United States and may include travel to other locations across the United States. Per diem is offered to those who qualify. The specialist helps ensure contractors meet quality standards throughout field engineering, construction execution, startup, and warranty phases. The role focuses on power generation projects and includes oversight of quality programs, contractor work, construction tests, materials, equipment, documentation, and corrective actions. The specialist also supports project stakeholders in resolving challenges, provides technical guidance to plant operators and maintenance teams, and helps maintain a safe working environment. The compensation range is $118,023–$180,313; eligible employees may also participate in a yearly discretionary bonus.

Requirements

At least 12 years of experience in electrical quality assurance, operations, and maintenance within the power generation industry, with a proven track record of successful projects.
Familiarity with industry regulations, codes, standards, and best practices related to power plant construction, operations, maintenance, and safety.
Knowledge of NFPA, NEMA, OSHA, and NEC.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to lead, inspire, and collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Willingness to travel and work in various locations across the United States as required.
Must already have U.S. work authorization; the employer does not sponsor work authorization for this position.

Responsibilities

Review and oversee project QA/QC programs throughout all phases, ensuring compliance with contract specifications, design documents, codes, and standards.
Conduct regular contractor audits, verify conformity with design documents and specifications, and recommend improvements.
Ensure contractors use current design-document revisions and maintain accurate records of changes and updates.
Verify installed work and progress against drawings, specifications, and contractual requirements, and identify variances or changes in work placement.
Track work progress and report key activity developments in daily reports.
Support early and ongoing communication among project partners and stakeholders and help find solutions to project challenges.
Monitor storage and maintenance of materials and equipment to ensure they meet quality standards before installation.
Review construction test reports and compliance documentation, including welding, concrete, NDE, welding procedures, and welder qualifications.
Oversee construction quality activities, including soils compaction, concrete placement, structural steel bolt-up, rotating equipment alignment, and electrical cable testing.
Ensure quality records and as-built documentation are maintained and accessible.
Report quality audit results and performance metrics to project management and stakeholders, identifying concerns and recommending corrective actions.
Assist contractors with pre-planning quality control processes and activities.
Document test and inspection observations, including deviations and non-conformances.
Track non-conformance reports and follow up to ensure corrective actions are completed and documented promptly.
Summarize and report QA/QC performance statistics, identifying trends and opportunities for continuous improvement.
Provide an interface between contractors and subcontractors and the client.
Enforce safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment and comply with industry regulations.
Maintain comprehensive records of quality activities, inspections, equipment condition, and performance metrics.
Provide technical leadership, support, and guidance to plant operators, maintenance teams, and other stakeholders.
