This position offers the opportunity to work as a lead engineer in a project team environment, focusing on the design, modification, and analysis of electrical systems for a range of projects, from existing plant retrofits to new generation installations. The role involves power distribution designs and the preparation of specifications for the procurement of major electrical power equipment and related installation services. The engineer will assist the project manager in ensuring projects are completed satisfactorily, on time, and within budget, and will coordinate systems design activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and client requirements. Responsibilities include preparing and reviewing functional design drawings, preparing documentation for design input, and performing detailed calculations for auxiliary power systems, voltage drop, protective relay settings, and arc flash. The role also involves interfacing with vendors, preparing bills of material and equipment purchase specifications, and providing recommendations. The engineer will prepare reports and studies, perform independent reviews of others' work, and mentor less experienced engineers. Career development is supported through peer-learning via S&L’s systems of process and associated “Communities of Practice.” Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and to plant site locations for construction coordination and field verification is required. This position operates on a hybrid work schedule, requiring three days per week in the office.
