About The Position

The Lead Electrical Design Engineer will join the Robinson Nuclear Station Corporate Design Engineering team in Hartsville, South Carolina. Duke Energy Nuclear Fleet Corporate Design Engineering serves as the Design Authority for the company’s six nuclear sites and executes a fleet portfolio of design solutions supporting risk reduction, equipment obsolescence, and plant modernization. The Robinson team manages the station’s capital engineering change portfolio. The role independently develops the scope, technical basis, installation, and testing requirements for electrical engineering design changes, and provides technical expertise in analyzing and resolving problems. The engineer conducts engineering studies and projects, prepares technical documentation and calculations, coordinates work and project interfaces, and manages schedules with minimal oversight. The position also contributes to team decisions, maintains records, builds effective working relationships, communicates technical information, and mentors less experienced engineers. The engineer must be able to fill in during the department manager’s absence. Work is typically performed in an office, with some plant work for system walkdowns and field support of modification implementation. After onboarding, work is hybrid, combining remote and onsite work. Employees must live within 50 miles of their assigned Duke Energy facility and are expected to report onsite as required, averaging two full workdays per regular workweek. The stated workweek is Monday through Thursday, 10-hour days. Travel is 5–15%. Additional hours are expected during scheduled refueling outages; occasional overnight travel may be required. Relocation assistance is available as applicable.
