About The Position

This position involves conducting tests on the pulmonary or cardiovascular systems of patients for diagnostic purposes. The Lead Echo Tech will perform electrocardiograms, cardiac catheterizations, pulmonary-functions, lung capacity, and similar tests. The role requires a full-time commitment of 40 hours per week, with hours typically falling between Monday and Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. Travel is required for this position.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited high school
  • Technical training through previous on the job training or from accredited course
  • Basic EKG interpretation
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in CP
  • RCVT – Registered Cardio-Vascular Technician
  • CPR certified
  • RCS certified
  • RDCS certified
  • 3-5 years of previous Echo Lab experience

Responsibilities

  • Perform M-mode echocardiograms: Obtain standard M-mode echocardiogram of the left ventricle. Obtain standard M-Mode echocardiogram of each of the four valves. Measurements of required valves/chambers. Prepare interpretation form.
  • Perform two dimensional cardiograms
  • Perform Doppler Echocardiography
  • Perform Stress Echocardiography
  • Record four views of the routine two dimensional echocardiograms on disc when quantitations and wall motion studies are requested. This technician will make preliminary measurements, as well as record the views for later analysis.
  • Compile data: Prepare patient file and interpretation forms. Be familiar with report generation.
  • Report equipment malfunction and summon repair personnel when indicated.
  • Assist with transesophageal echocardiography when it becomes available.
  • Teach digital echocardiographic techniques including exercise cardiography, quantitation and disc making to other technicians.
  • Observe and report any unusual abnormalities to the cardiologist so that proper medical care can be given to the patient.
  • Make appointment changes if needed for patients in emergency situations.
  • Maintain a timely flow of patients.
  • Cheerfully greet patients and prepare them for the appropriate exam. Instruct patients as to exam requirements and/or instructions. Treat patients with utmost respect.
  • Maintain patient’s records and pertinent information.
  • Maintain testing area for necessary supplies, materials, and cleanliness.
  • Perform related work responsibilities as required or needed.
