About The Position

Lead Distribution & Logistics Specialists are responsible for performing and controlling a combination of manual or automated tasks necessary for the receipt, storage, and shipment of product at the local level. This may include functions of receiving, picking, packing, shipping, staging, transportation, storage, and delivery. The role also involves ensuring the efficient flow of products from the point of product request to receipt from vendors. The primary areas of responsibility include the Store Room, Point of Use Delivery, Logistical Operations, and other assigned areas. This position leads up to 6 specialists within the Distribution & Logistics function and reports directly to the Manager, Distribution and Logistics. The role requires experience and demonstrated ability to work across departmental lines, exceptional initiative, strong interpersonal capabilities, and the ability to meet productivity and quality requirements.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate
  • 3 or more years of related experience in a fast-paced environment; customer service, and distribution.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to speak and understand English.
  • Ability to work and adapt in a fast and dynamic organization.
  • Maintain proficiency for departmental and system training requirements.
  • Interpersonal, organizational and follow up skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays and overtime hours as necessary due to business needs.
  • Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.
  • Ability to effectively use Microsoft office products and perform general computer skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Some college courses in a related field of study.
  • 1 or more years of Lean experience.
  • 1 or more years of experience in a healthcare environment.
  • Self-motivated with ability to work in a team-oriented environment with limited supervision and an emphasis on customer satisfaction.
  • Aptitude to work in a fast-paced environment while meeting established distribution goals and performance standards.

Responsibilities

  • Training new employees on company and departmental procedures.
  • Ensuring that safety, productivity, and quality standards are met.
  • Coordinating housekeeping and inventory control activities.
  • Making decisions within established guidelines with minimal supervision.
  • Providing effective coaching and feedback to team members and working with the manager to complete annual evaluations.
  • Applying extensive knowledge of departmental policies to complete a wide range of assignments.
  • Taking the lead in effectively applying new processes and skills.
  • Following established Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) for various tasks including requisition creation/processing, order picking, quality checks, freight sorting/consolidation, packing, loading, receiving, put-away, replenishment, and order preparation for delivery.
  • Processing requisitions for tissue, implants, consignment, and supplies, ensuring system guidelines are followed.
  • Ensuring the efficient flow of products from requisition to delivery, meeting customer needs.
  • Performing other duties and participating in projects as assigned.
  • Cross-training in multiple areas of Distribution and Logistics (Store Room, Point of Use, Logistics).
