About The Position

United Ground Express is seeking a Full Time Lead Dispatcher at Chicago O'Hare International Airport. This role involves managing dispatch operations, ensuring service requests are met, and maintaining compliance with all relevant regulations. The Lead Dispatcher will work closely with Passenger Assistance Agents and other employees, communicate effectively, and handle various administrative and operational duties.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED or preferred
  • Minimum of 18 years old
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently
  • Ability to operate a computer/tablet to enter and retrieve data
  • Must be willing and able to perform a variety of physical activities including, bending, stooping, climbing, and working in tight spaces
  • Must be able to be alert to moving vehicles or aircraft and use radio equipment
  • Must be able to read and interpret aircraft weight and balance loading instructions, hazardous material identification labels, aircraft loading manifests, and baggage and cargo routing tags
  • Eligibility to obtain necessary credentials and clearances (FAA, TSA, Port Authority, U.S. Customs and U.S. Postal) per local requirements
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
  • Must be able to work during day and night shifts, weekends, and holidays; mandatory overtime may be required based on operational need
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualifications
  • Ability to operate a computer to enter and retrieve data
  • Ability to utilize radio equipment for communications
  • Ability to lift up to 70lbs on a consistent basis
  • Ability to pass all pre-screening clearances applicable to position qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Pull assignments or work orders from computer, as needed.
  • Work with Passenger Assistance Agents (PAA’s) to ensure all requests for services are met.
  • Do all reports accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Keep supervisor informed of needs and problems in assigned areas, maintain cleanliness of immediate work area and report maintenance needs.
  • Deal courteously and tactfully with fellow employees and passengers if necessary.
  • Communicate effectively with fellow employees.
  • Receive and respond to telephone and radio calls from PAA and employees in a professional and timely manner.
  • Project a positive image and respond to inquiries from airlines, staff and public in a courteous manner.
  • Utilize appropriate communications channels and maintain records, reports and files as required.
  • Maintain and distribute radios (where applicable). Always complete the appropriate documentation and reports in thorough and timely manner.
  • Perform other duties as requested.
