About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Lead Dispatcher to oversee daily dispatch operations and ensure smooth, efficient transit service. This role requires strong leadership, problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage schedules, coordinate teams, and respond quickly to operational challenges.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred).
  • Minimum 3 years of dispatch experience; prior leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with Trapeze or other dispatch scheduling software required.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure.
  • Knowledge of DOT, ADA, and transportation compliance requirements.
  • Skilled in problem-solving and making real-time decisions to support operational needs.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred
  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience in paratransit or public transportation operations is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the dispatch team to ensure effective communication and coordination.
  • Monitor and adjust dispatch schedules to meet operational needs.
  • Resolve operational issues promptly and effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures.
  • Provide training, coaching, and support to dispatch team members.
  • Analyze performance data and recommend improvements.
  • Coordinate with other departments to maintain efficient transit operations.
  • Manage and distribute daily routes.
  • Prepare and send the Morning Report and Full Day Off-the-Lot Report by 7:00 AM.
  • Maintain rollout details throughout the PM shift.
  • Professionally answer and manage incoming calls.
  • Adjust operator assignments in Trapeze and correct route/trip errors as needed.
  • Complete and distribute the 11:30 AM Report.
  • Monitor Trapeze for dead head times to track productivity.
  • Print and distribute prior day productivity and on-time compliance reports (Mondays include Friday–Sunday).
  • Monitor sign-in sheets and ensure accurate attendance records.
  • Scan and email all manifests to management daily.
  • Continuously scan routes to schedule lunch breaks efficiently.
  • Properly handle all accidents and incidents.
  • Submit daily timesheets to payroll.
  • Ensure proper use of radios and 10-codes.
  • Document all driver callouts, including early/late starts or finishes.
  • Monitor driver uniform compliance.
  • Assist drivers with navigation and locating destinations.
  • Contact operators scheduled for overtime for the following day.
  • Print manifests for the next day’s routes.
  • Manage the cash mobility report.
  • Adjust schedules as needed to maintain on-time performance.
  • Prepare on-time compliance reports at 8:00 PM and 11:00 PM.
  • Complete the Full Day Off-the-Lot Report by 5:00 PM.
