About The Position

WM is hiring a Lead Diesel Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, and repair diesel vehicles and equipment at its Wellford, South Carolina hauling site. The role involves maintaining equipment used to serve WM customers, working with modern tools and procedures, and may include work on CNG trucks at some locations. The normal work setting is a repair and maintenance shop, with work performed both indoors and outdoors.

Requirements

• Four years of relevant work experience.
• A valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
• Be over 18 years of age.
• Be legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Successfully complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on a wide range of vehicles and equipment.
• Estimate time and material costs for vehicle repairs and new parts.
• Perform work within Standard Labor Repair Times (SRTs).
• Respond to emergency breakdown service calls.
• Perform vehicle safety checks.
• Complete required paperwork documenting parts usage and repair times.
• Review, complete, or assign repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate and OSHA standards, and perform work according to established safety procedures.
