Lead DevSecOps Appian Engineer

Koniag Government Services•Washington, DC

About The Position

Tuknik Government Services, LLC, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a Lead DevSecOps Appian Engineer to support a U.S. Army customer on a large-scale contracting systems modernization and automation program. The role leads the automated delivery path for Appian packages, conventional code, database changes, interfaces, security evidence, and test results. It builds a repeatable promotion process that preserves artifact integrity and gives the Government visibility into release quality and approvals. The position requires a Top Secret security clearance and supports a government customer in the DC Metro area. This is a contingent recruiting profile for a future new business opportunity; the opening, employing subsidiary, compensation, work location, and staffing depend on final contract authorization. The Lead DevSecOps Appian Engineer designs and operates DevSecOps pipelines across development, test, staging, and production environments. The role configures GitLab CI/CD and integrates artifact repositories, code-quality tools, approved security scanners, SBOM generation, automated testing, and evidence repositories into release gates. It automates package inspection, configuration validation, environment promotion, deployment verification, rollback, and forward recovery, while maintaining controlled-artifact promotion practices and traceability through production release. The position coordinates separate IL-5 and IL-6 pipeline configurations, credentials, repositories, test data, approvals, and evidence streams. It troubleshoots pipeline and application deployment issues with Appian, configuration, testing, security, database, and platform teams; publishes pipeline and release metrics for Government review; and coaches development teams on secure coding, package design, automated testing, and release discipline. Work may be remote when authorized, at Government facilities, or in controlled office and data-center environments. Work involving classified information or SIPRNet must take place at a Government-approved secure location using authorized systems. The role generally supports Government business hours, with occasional release, incident-response, maintenance-window, or approved travel requirements.

  • Ability to communicate clearly with Government, technical, and business stakeholders.

  • Troubleshoot pipeline failures and application deployment issues with Appian, configuration, test, security, database, and platform teams.
  • Publish pipeline health, deployment frequency, failure rate, recovery, test, and security metrics for Government review.
