Lead DevSecOps Appian Engineer

Koniag Government Services, LLC•Washington, DC
•$166,000 - $195,000

About The Position

Tuknik Government Services, LLC, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a Lead DevSecOps Appian Engineer with a Top Secret security clearance to support a U.S. Army customer on a large-scale contracting systems modernization and automation program. This role leads the automated delivery path for Appian packages, conventional code, database changes, interfaces, security evidence, and test results. It builds a repeatable promotion process that preserves artifact integrity and gives the Government visibility into release quality and approvals. The position is described as a future new business opportunity and a contingent recruiting profile; the opening, employing subsidiary, compensation, work location, and staffing are subject to final contract authorization. The role designs and operates DevSecOps pipelines across development, test, staging, and production environments; establishes controls for multiple artifact types; and integrates code quality, security scanning, testing, and evidence tools into release gates. It automates inspection, validation, promotion, deployment verification, and recovery while maintaining traceability and coordinating distinct IL-5 and IL-6 pipeline configurations. The Lead Engineer also troubleshoots with application, security, database, test, and platform teams; reports pipeline and release metrics to the Government; and coaches development teams in secure coding, testing, and release practices. Work may be performed remotely when authorized, at Government facilities, or in controlled office and data-center environments. Work with classified information or SIPRNet takes place at a Government-approved secure location using authorized systems. The role generally supports Government business hours, with occasional release, incident-response, maintenance-window, or approved travel requirements.

  • U.S. citizenship and the active security clearance or eligibility required for the assigned work by the start of performance, with ongoing eligibility thereafter.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with Government, technical, and business stakeholders and maintain accurate work records in approved systems.

Responsibilities

  • Design and operate the DevSecOps pipeline across development, test, staging, and production environments.
  • Implement artifact-specific controls for Appian packages, scripts, conventional code, containers, database changes, and documentation.
  • Configure GitLab branching, merge controls, runners, approvals, pipeline definitions, and protected release workflows.
  • Integrate Nexus, SonarQube, approved security scanners, SBOM generation, test tools, and evidence repositories into release gates.
  • Automate package inspection, configuration validation, environment promotion, deployment verification, rollback, and forward recovery.
  • Maintain build-once/promote-controlled-artifact practices and traceability from approved backlog item through production release.
  • Coordinate separate IL-5 and IL-6 pipeline configurations, credentials, repositories, test data, approvals, and evidence streams.
  • Troubleshoot pipeline failures and application deployment issues with Appian, configuration, test, security, database, and platform teams.
  • Publish pipeline health, deployment frequency, failure rate, recovery, test, and security metrics for Government review.
